This mid‑century Holiday Inn at 1331 Trumbull & Porter served as the quiet refuge for
The Rolling Stones on Sunday night, June 14, 1964, after their explosive Olympia Stadium debut. Two blocks south of Michigan & Trumbull, this Southwest Detroit landmark welcomed the band during their first U.S. tour — its neon star and “Nation’s Innkeeper” marquee glowing over a parking lot of classic American steel. Though the Holiday Inn name vanished in the 1980s, the four‑story building still stands today as the Trumbull & Porter Inn, carrying the hidden legacy of the first time the Stones slept in Detroit.
